19th Annual Upstate New York Business Leader Survey Raises Concerns
This survey raises serious concerns about the business climate in NY and the Hudson Valley, particularly as we are, like the rest of the country, confronting an affordability crisis for many of our residents. It is critical that political/business leaders in the region, and across the state, work together to develop actionable strategies that can turn the tide of historically low survey numbers.
We owe it to our neighbors to develop pathways for more, higher-paying jobs so they have more money in their wallets to navigate higher prices on just about everything they come in contact with. From creating a more welcoming investment climate through targeted reduced taxes to making it easier to do business in NY by cutting overreaching regulations (kudos to Governor Hochul for giving it a shot with SEQRA reform), we must embrace changes that entice investment and economic growth.
Workforce Development, housing for workers and their families, strategic partnerships between industry and research universities, and more, must be encouraged to meet the challenges of the moment.
